Community Mat Classes

Slow and precise movements to strengthen your body

Matwork was a foundation of Joseph Pilates’ practice.  It allows you to challenge yourself against your own weight (and gravity).  It is a fantastic way to build strength, and is a good test to see if you are as strong as you believe.

Ground yourself and sign up for a pilates matwork class.

Pilates Workshops

Move with precision and control

This is a technical introduction, or development, to your Pilates practice.  During this workshop you will have the opportunity to learn the basics of Pilates methodology and how to move your body to feel great.

During these workshops, you will be guided through foundational Pilates movements and exercises.

Need to know?

For complete beginners, I would recommend attending Pilates for 1 class per day anywhere between 2 to 4 days a week for the first 2 weeks, ensuring days off remain active recovery days and include light exercise such as walking, or swimming, and a healthy diet.

For those who already have a regular exercise habit, I recommend anywhere from 1 to 2 classes per day, 3 to 6 days per week , coupled with additional exercise such as walking or swimming, and a healthy diet.

But, pilates is the kind of exercise you can do everyday if you are feeling it!

No need to worry!  Pilates is a low impact exercise that aims to make you feel great.

Pilates is great for people who are athletes, suffer from chronic injury or illness, are recovering from surgery and of course, people who are new to physical activity.

If you are really concerned you can gain clearance from your GP or other allied health professional, and contact us for an initial consultation to discuss your goals, limitations and how we can help you!  You can book in for a 1:1 chat with our lead instructor here.

At Wunda reform Pilates, we provide almost all of the items you will need for your Pilates class. All you need to bring are:

  • Comfortable exercise attire (think clothes to stretch in);
  • Socks (Grippy socks are compulsory for Reformer and Studio classes and can be purchased in studio)
  • Your own towel; and
  • A water bottle (we do not provide plastic cups and drinking water as part of our single use plastic free initiative)

Joseph Pilates (the creator of the Pilates method) once said:

In 10 sessions you will feel the difference, in 20 sessions you will see the difference and in 30 sessions, you will have a whole new body.” ~JP

Of course, every body is different and this will depend on your commitment, diet and other lifestyle factors.

We believe that no matter what, attending Pilates on a regular basis will make you feel taller, more supported and will increase your awareness of how you move and feel throughout the day.
